Prep & Aftercare
Perfect Your Prep.
Protect Your Bronze.
A seamless, long-lasting spray tan begins before your appointment and continues with the right care afterward. Follow these guidelines—and the personalized instructions provided at your appointment—to get the best from your custom glow.
Your Glow Is Custom. Your Rinse Time Is Too.
Standard, rapid, and specialty solutions have different development schedules. Always follow the personalized first-rinse and first-shower times provided at your appointment. Those instructions take priority over general guidance found online or elsewhere on this page.
Before Your Appointment
Prep Today for Your Best Bronze
Thorough preparation helps create a smoother application, more even color development, and a longer-lasting tan that fades evenly.
Plan Other Beauty Services First
Schedule hair appointments, manicures and pedicures, waxing, facials, massages, injections, and other beauty treatments before your spray-tan appointment. Allow enough time for your skin to settle and for treatment products, water, or oils to be completely removed.
Exfoliate 24 Hours Before
Exfoliate thoroughly 24 hours before your appointment, paying special attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees, ankles and hands. Avoid exfoliating immediately before your appointment. Use a gentle exfoliating mitt or an oil-free physical exfoliant, and avoid products that leave a heavy residue on the skin.
Shave or Wax in Advance
Complete shaving at least 24 hours before your appointment whenever possible. Waxing should be completed far enough in advance for the skin to calm and any residue to be removed. Arriving with freshly irritated skin can affect comfort and application.
Arrive Clean, Dry & Product-Free
Arrive with clean, completely dry skin. Do not apply lotion, body oil, deodorant, perfume, makeup, or other skincare products unless you have been specifically instructed otherwise.
Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
Bring loose, dark clothing and loose or open footwear to wear after your appointment. Avoid leggings, tight waistbands, restrictive bras, socks, sneakers, and anything that may rub against your developing tan.
Plan to Stay Cool & Dry
Avoid exercise, sweating, swimming, rain, and activities that may expose your skin to water after your appointment. Plan enough development time to remain cool and dry until your scheduled first rinse.

Your Custom Glow
Care That Keeps Your Bronze Beautiful
Your tan was customized specifically for you. Follow your personalized rinse schedule and these care instructions to help preserve smooth, even color.
Before Your First Rinse
Stay completely dry. Avoid water, sweating, lotions, skin-to-skin contact, and anything that may rub or create pressure marks. Continue wearing loose, dark clothing.
Your First Rinse
Rinse at the exact time provided at your appointment. Use lukewarm water only and rinse gently until the cosmetic bronzer has washed away and the water runs clear. Do not use soap, body wash, shampoo, a loofah, or an exfoliating cloth during this rinse. Do not scrub. Gently pat your skin dry with a dark towel.
Moisturize as Directed
Apply the aftercare moisturizer recommended for your tan according to your personalized instructions. Smooth it gently over the skin without aggressive rubbing. Consistent hydration helps the tan fade more evenly.
Your First Full Shower
Wait until the personalized time provided at your appointment before taking your first complete shower. Wash gently using a mild, tan-friendly cleanser. Avoid scrubs, exfoliating gloves, loofahs, harsh soaps, and exfoliating acids while maintaining your tan. Pat—do not rub—your skin dry.
Moisturize Daily
Moisturize after every shower and whenever your skin feels dry. Apply lotion while the skin is slightly damp for comfortable, consistent hydration. Use the aftercare products recommended for your specific tan whenever possible.
Protect Your Bronze
Keep showers brief and comfortably warm rather than very hot. Chlorine, hot tubs, prolonged swimming, frequent shaving, exfoliation, and friction can shorten the life of your tan. Do not wax or deliberately exfoliate until you are ready to prepare for your next appointment.
Your First Rinse Is Not Your Final Color
The cosmetic guide color will wash away during your first rinse, and your skin may temporarily appear lighter. Your sunless color will continue developing according to the timing of the solution used. Do not reapply self-tanner or assume the tan did not develop. Follow the instructions provided at your appointment and allow the full development period before evaluating the final result.
